I couldn’t find suitable cascades near Yosemite Falls. I wanted to amplify the movement of the distant falls with a foreground rush of near water. Searching through my stack of visual reference material, I came across just what I needed from the Kaweah River South in Sequoia National Park. Combining scenes from different geographic areas to enhance a mood or feeling is one of the opportunities I find in studio painting.
