I had learned in my painting composition class that a “look through” picture plane was a desirable and classic organization of elements for a painting.  I have used it often in my work.  The scenic trail at Point Lobos State Park is filled with incredible looking through the wind swept pines and cypress vistas.  This painting featuring a deep ravine down to the turbulent shoreline is a classic “look through” site.  How could I resist?
