The
lake was low, the aspens were golden, there was a nip in the air –
it was Fall in the High Country. Heading up the Carson Pass to Lake
Tahoe, we coasted to a stop where there seemed to be the elements
of a painting. My wife stayed behind in the warm car while I wandered
out onto the beach. No single site inspired me, but a combination
of several spots on the lake’s edge suggested a painting. I
was alone in an utterly tranquil haven in the High Sierras.
