Driving into the Yosemite Valley, I was struck by the contrasts: the refracted color in the fall's mist with the quiet reflections in the Merced River, the towering stone bluffs with the lazy sand bar, and the warm glow of Fall color with the cool dark evergreens. Everywhere I looked the full range of visual effects was on display. I shall never forget the inspiration to paint on that cool autumn day.
